Found in the center of western Zambia, Kafue is the oldest and largest of Zambia’s national parks. Kafue is one of the largest reserves in the whole of Africa.
The Busanga Plains are only accessible during the dry season from July to November typically. We stayed at the Kasonso Busanga Bush camp, which in the central part of the plains and accessible longer. We came in from Kasempa as opposed to Lusaka, and had to take a canoe across the Lufupa river. This is one of the best places in Zambia to see lions. You can also see local fisherman wandering with the wildlife as they go to the river to fish.
